  I highly recommend Ashley. He came out to check the electrics at my house to issue a certificate of compliance. He was knowledgeable, honest and fairly priced. As I couldn't be present at the visit he sent me a clear video demonstrating why the fuse box had failed the test and advised about the repair. Then, when we had agreed the new part that he needed to buy to make good, he also sent me a photo of the receipt of purchase as it turned out a little more expensive. He gave me good advice for the future and even called the energy supplier to alert them to some possible corrosion at the incoming point to my home which he had noticed. He didn't need to do this as it was my responsibility. Just great service! Thanks Ashley.

  Renegade installed a solar system for us, panels and battery storage for an off grid system. This went without a hitch. Ashley was punctual, completed the work to a very high standard and suggested improvements to our setup in order to get the best out of the system. I agree with other reviewers that Ashley goes the extra mile, rare these days. I have no hesitation in recommending Renegade, they will do a brilliant job.

  Just occasionally you come across a contractor who really does go above and beyond expectations…and that is exactly what I experienced with Ashley and Renegade Electricals. After several years of obtaining quotes for PV installations for my 1930’s bungalow, I gained a poor impression of solar providers. Main issue was I had a difficult roof with various obstructions which made the positioning of PV panels problematic. Most companies that estimated did so from a Google maps satellite view which resulted in quotes for six/eight panels when I required 10 for an economically viable system. Many of these companies had a poor reputation, were expensive and I didn’t find their business model reassuring. Eventually I contacted Octopus who were offering PV solutions. However, they only want to do simple jobs – getting a modular kit out the back of a van and sticking it on an obstacle free south-facing roof, all done in a day. So, clearly this wouldn’t suit my irregular roof. But Octopus did recommend certain installers in the area who may be able to quote if you didn’t fit their simple “flat-pack” model. And this is where Renegade Electricals appeared. Ashley was brilliant. He came to the house, measured up the roof, noting the obstacles and establishing workarounds. Consulting with his roofer colleagues, he believed that it would be possible to install 10 panels utilising both south/west facing roofs, explaining that (understandably) it would be a bit of a dog’s dinner. But we were okay with this, it was the only way after all. Ashley also reassured us with his business model, explaining that all payments were insurance backed by the HIES scheme which covers you in the event of a business going bankrupt. Having been a previous victim of this sort of Builders scam I found this very encouraging and consequently elected to use Ashley as my chosen contractor. I felt I could trust him. I soon received written quotations, an explanation of the HIES scheme and projections of what the PV installation was going to generate in the coming years. I got the impression I was dealing with a competent professional who knew his business. A week or two later the scaffolders arrived and completed their work in a couple of hours and the following day Ashley turned up with his cohort Clayton and they began the electrical work in the garage, positioning and installing the battery/inverter. Having quoted for 2 x 4kW batteries, Ashley had phoned me from the wholesalers to inform me that there was a new 9.6kW battery available, with built-in heater (handy in my cold garage, reduces battery discharge) for not much more money so I elected to go for that. A great piece of customer service there. The following day the roofers turned up and installed the 10 panels exactly as Ashley had planned. Okay, they don’t look pretty not having the asymmetry of a typical rectangular arrangement, but it is far better than we could have hoped for. On the final day, commissioning, they got the system running only to run into a couple of technical issues which took some time to resolve. But Ashley worked with Alpha-ESS technical to establish the fault and resolve it. Once up and running I have to say I’m delighted with the installation. It looks neat and professional and the whole experience, taking around five/six weeks in total, was very straightforward. The kit Ashley provided from Alpha-ESS appears top quality and the app for monitoring the kit is very intuitive. I was provided with the requisite certification required to register with Octopus and that process was quickly sorted. I’m now very glad that I took the decision to go ahead with the installation having prevaricated for some time due to my mistrust of the profession and contractors in general – Ashley has turned this around for me. In conclusion Ashley and Clayton were consummate professionals, very reasonably priced and I can wholeheartedly recommend them. I wish them well in their future business and I’ll be using them again in the Spring for a full electrical test/inspection.

  Highly recommended. The work began on time and within the agreed time frame. We were kept informed at all stages of the installation. Ashley installed solar panels, battery and inverter for us. He even accommodated a few last minute adjustments and was very understanding. He was extremely competitively priced, having compared with several other companies. We are now happily generating 🌞😎

  Fed up of having solar quotes based solely on Google Earth views of my house that excluded what was, to me, the obvious best place for panels - on flat roof. Ashley was very accommodating in viewing the property, and trying out alternative designs. The personal touch was important in both designing the system and installing it. Ashley and Clayton were a pleasure to have around whilst fitting. Cost seemed reasonable. System works really well. Would highly recommend
