  Had to have a new boiler fitted after old one stopped working after 20 years. Had to wait a week before assessment of old boiler was done but after that new boiler was fitted on agreed date and all done in one day. Ben was efficient and friendly.

  Our old gas boiler gave up in March and pushed us into advancing our research into heat pumps, following an abortive attempt to get a quote from another firm in late 2025. On March 30 I sent out three emails with details of our house and asking for help around installing a heat pump. Ben emailed a response within a few hours proposing a meeting two days later and setting out the arrangements for moving to a contract. This included an initial estimate of costs, to be followed by a full heat loss survey to form the basis of the definitive quotation. There is a charge of £300 for the survey, which is taken off the final cost if he is used for the installation. (This seems to me an admirable way of doing business, it is always a problem asking for someone to invest a lot of time into preparing a detailed quote, and this enabled us to have detailed information about our heating requirements and confidence that the final quotation would not have unexpected costs) On my other two emails, I had a prompt acknowledgement from one firm, followed by a draft proposal and initial quote. I raised some points about the quote in an email and heard nothing further. I heard nothing at all from the third candidate. With Ben, we agreed the survey and paid his fee – the survey was carried out a week later and the final contract was agreed with a start date of May 4 (in spite of this being a bank holiday) The works were completed and the whole system was up and running by May 8, 4 days in total - with the final commissioning taking place over the weekend of May 6-7. It was all really fast and the installation by Ben, with an assistant for lifting and helping with the heavy work of positioning equipment over two days, followed by an electrician attending on the next two days, was done neatly and efficiently. The fitting included passing pipes and cable through a 3 metre wide void under the kitchen floor which was not accessible – the holes for the pipes being drilled in from the conservatory and the cellar. It was a smooth finish to a few years of thinking and planning to replace the ageing gas boiler, which went very easily thanks to Ben. There is always a debate between the merits of a large organisation with financial security in size and a single person business, where you know who you are dealing with although there is more risk if it goes badly. Our experience with Ben reinforces our tendency to use small locally based firms for work on the house. We were very impresssed by his flexibility and professionalism. Attached is a photo of the heat pump in situ.

  Ben was recommended by a builder I trust and he didn’t disappoint. Managed to fit us in quickly to remove and replace a leaking hot water cylinder, and despite having some issues on the day (faulty goods supplied not his work) he worked quickly and left the room clean and tidy. Wholly recommend and will use him for any future plumbing work

  Ben and his daughter Phoebe both did a great job resitting a boiler. Quick, neat and accommodating. Nothing was a problem. Nice to see a lady working on site. Ben was very accommodating when we had to change dates.

  We had asked Ben if he could complete some work in our bathroom, and without hesitation he completed the work to a very high standard, if we had any worries Ben was always at the other end of the phone to answer any questions. The work was carried out efficiently. I Highly recommend Ben and will be using in future for any heating or plumbing work we require. Thank you once again.
