We started using Plumbcraft to service our Oil fuel boiler last winter and we were impressed by the transparency of cost, communication in the run up to, and after the service, as well as the workmanship. I would highly recommend!

We booked some kitchen plumbing work with Plumbcraft. I'll keep it to the facts. The internal plumbing was completed to an acceptable standard. However, the external pipework for all our kitchen waste water was left with a split and discharging onto the drive instead of fully into a gully as per building regulations. Neither were the redundant holes in the external wall made good. We complained and another plumber came out the same day to rectify it. We are experienced homeowners and know what should be done. However, people less experienced would have been left with continuous grey water discharging over their outside area from sinks, washing machines etc. We paid their invoice for parts and labour as expected the day it arrived. A week later we received another invoice for parts, full of mathematical and date errors. When we queried it we discovered they charge a 30% mark up on all parts and materials. They will not install parts bought by yourself even if identical to those used. No explanation was given for why the second invoice parts were not included in the original invoice. We always prefer using local, family run businesses rather than funding large national companies. In our opinion this company let us down badly and we will source our plumbing requirements elsewhere in future.

We’re sorry to hear you feel disappointed, as this certainly wasn’t our intention. You asked us to alter your kitchen plumbing to relocate the sink and accommodate an additional appliance, including installing a remote stop tap that you had specified. From the outset, we explained that we supply all materials to ensure quality, compatibility, and full warranty cover, so that if any issues arise, we can resolve them quickly and without inconvenience. Our usual process is to invoice separately for specifically requested items and for labour and pipework based on what is actually used on the job. We appreciate this may not have been clear at the time, so when you queried it, we provided a full itemised breakdown for clarity. Many of the products we supply come with free fitting and our trade discounts mean often our prices are substantially below recommended retail price or than they can be purchased elsewhere. We do charge a margin on the trade price of pipe and fittings which helps cover the essential consumables required to install them and complete the work properly (such as solder, flux, solvent weld, clips, etc.) as well as responsible waste disposal. We’re pleased the internal work was completed to a good standard, and we returned promptly the same day to make adjustments to the external pipework. We always aim to provide a reliable and professional service, and we’re sorry that on this occasion you feel we fell short.

Extremly good service from first telephone enquiry answered by Sophie, who booked surveyor Wayne to come and provide an estimate within two days, through to completion of instalation of new boiler, radiators and bathroom heated towel rail, all installed by Adam. Estimate was fully detailed and itemised and was received within 24 hours of Waynes' visit. Instalation was scheduled to take 3 to 4 days and start within two weeks of acceptance of quotation. All work was completed within the agreed time frame and carried out to impecable standard with all areas of work left imaculatey clean and tidy. This was not an easy job as buildings being worked within are over 100 years old, with some of the walls being over 2 feet thick and constructed of stone and cobble.

A miscommunication ended with me being billed £117 unexpectedly. I thought a plumber was coming to quote for rectifying an issue we had, however, Plumbcraft billed me their call out fee plus first half hour and vat. Had it had been made clear, I would have questioned it and cleared the miscommunication up beforehand. They did email their price structure over, but I thought this was for if I went ahead with the work. The service I got I certainly don’t feel warrants £117, the plumber must have thought it was the easiest money the company had made. The plumber turned up, said what he’d do, and said he would send a quote. We’ve had a number of trades look at work in our house recently, none billed us for this. I was surprised by the customer service reaction, reputation is so important. After receiving the invoice over 2 weeks after the visit, I rang Plumbcraft to speak to someone about it and soon saw where the miscommunication was. Good customer service would have been listening to the issue and putting the customer first. However, I was talked over repeatedly and there was little understating from their end. Eventually they did say they would knock £39 off if I went ahead with the quoted works, but given my experience I was reluctant to go with them. Instead, I asked someone else to look at the issue, who quoted cheaper and didn’t charge me to look at the job! Guess who got the work. Have I had received better customer service, they would probably have got the work. Personally I’ll avoid them in future. If you want to get them to look at some work, confirm in writing if it’s charged for beforehand. Also worth looking at their trust pilot reviews.

A little bit of honesty and integrity on your part wouldn’t go a miss. Over the last 18 months you /your wife have called Plumbcraft to your property on 3 separate occasions to give you advice and quote for work. On the first 2 occasions you told us that you just wanted a quote. That’s fine everyone understands the situation and a free quote was provided. However, on the third occasion you booked us in for a job; "to trace and remove a blind end of pipe that you thought posed a risk of legionnaires disease". That is not a free quote. It is a request for a plumber’s time to diagnose and fix a problem which you would be expected to pay for. However, after he told you what needed to be done you changed your mind and asked us just to quote for the work instead. We provided the quote and you decided to do the work yourself. We sent an invoice for the time we had already spent at your property as per the rates you confirmed you received in advance. You then contacted us to say that you didn’t think you should have to pay for the plumbers time. You also told us that your occupation is property maintenance and in fact plumbing is a service you provide to your customers and charge them for! Clearly you have no intention of ever proceeding with any work from us - you just want to use us as free advice service so you can use our expertise to tell you how to do the work yourself. You also admit that you keep doing the same thing to other tradespeople too. Had you been honest and upfront in the first place we would not have visited your property and in that circumstance you would not have received an invoice. As gesture of goodwill we offered a credit towards further work. However it is clear you do not appreciate that because you never had any intention of paying us to do any work for you.

We found Plumbcraft very professional in every aspect of dealing with them, There original quote was competitive, the fitting of the boiler was quicker than any other company could quote and the actual installation was faultless as was the technician who fitted it. Excellent service, well done
