Why choose MCS-certified
MCS is the UK's quality standard for renewable home installations. MCS certification is required for government grants and most green-finance products.
Battery storage installation — common questions
How much can a home battery save me per year?
Savings depend on your electricity tariff and solar system size. A typical 10 kWh battery combined with a 4 kWp solar array can save £300–£600/year by storing excess solar energy for evening use. On a time-of-use tariff (like Octopus Go), charging at 7p/kWh overnight and discharging at 28p/kWh can save an additional £200–£400/year without solar.
What size battery do I need?
Most homes need between 5 kWh and 15 kWh of battery capacity. A 10 kWh battery covers the average UK household's evening electricity demand. If you have an EV, a larger battery (13–20 kWh) lets you charge it from stored solar rather than the grid.
Does a home battery qualify for any VAT relief?
Battery storage installed alongside solar panels (or retrofitted to an existing solar system) is zero-rated for VAT since February 2024. Standalone batteries without any solar connection may attract 20% VAT — confirm with your installer before committing.
